Here's a trick I've already told in the official Caldera OpenDOS mailing list (for more details, please read their mailing list archive): Under most circumstances, you can use Helix CLOAKING instead of DPMS, since CLOAKING gives you an undocumented 'Cloaked DPMS-Server': + CLOAKING requires only additional 100 Bytes for the Cloaked DPMS- Server (if not giving undocumented /NODPMS option). CLOAKING can be loaded high, while DPMS cannot, which gives you 1KB more conventional memory. + All DPMS-aware TSRs run fine with CLOAKING, but also all CLOAKING- aware TSRs run fine with it. + The Logitech Mousedriver 6.60+ is a CLOAKING-client, and with CLOAKING loaded, it will require 1KB (instead of 27KB), that can be loaded high. - Most often, the multitasking TASKMGR crashes (on my system), if CLOAKING is loaded, no matter if providing DPMS-services or not. - Starting a PNW SERVER in a Windows 3.1 DOS-Box, the server becomes unstable with CLOAKING providing the DPMS-server. Maybe this is due to the fact, that DPMS provides a DPMS VxD, which CLOAKING does not. Reports welcome... Does anybody know of a CLOAKING version newer than 2.01 of 1994?
