Well, if you want to read disks on those systems, then you'll have to make disks that those systems can read. That is hardly a reason to not allow DOS to read ext2 floppies though. Just because other OS's can't. Under that logic, OS2 users shouldn't use HPFS, and W95 users shouldn't use VFAT. The more a filesystem is supported, the more it WILL be supported. By making ext2 the standard FS in DOS, it will prompt someone to write drivers for W95, and OS/2, (although I'm sure that these allready exist because Linux and ext2 have been around since '91 or so). > Still, I suppose you could choose.. That's what I'm getting at. Everyone can choose what they prefer. I just read an article about HPFS, seems that not very many OS/2 users use it, or even know what it is! Real bummer if you ask me. > > The OS will read any floppies that it has IFS support for. I > > mean you're only probably going to have 2 types anyways; FAT, and > > ext2. I've got 2 ext2 partitions right now, and I'd like to replace my 7 DOS FAT partitions with 2 ext2 partitions instead. It'd be nice if DOS would allow this right now. TTYL Mike A.
