There's also setting within the CMOS which control _how_ PnP works, ie
whether it can or cannot use certain resources, or whether it's enabled at
all.  You can tinker with this minefield until your prior cards work
properly, then start sticking in the PnP cards.

Hmm, though not all CMOS's allow all settings to be modified.
