That is, if a file (name to be determined) exists in the directory in text format with initialization settings in it, linux should make the plug and play honor the initialization settings in that file or generate an error log file explaining why each setting can't be honored. Had either Intel or Creative Labs done such a thing this whole plug and play system would have been far more enjoyable to use for all blind computer users than it has turned out to be. All of this goes to prove the point, just because a business has lots of money don't necessarily mean it has the brains to back it up. jude
