It might make backups and restores go lots faster that way. I'm unfamiliar with tape backup drives in either DOS or UNIX so I'm not entirely sure how it would be implemented. I imagine it would be done with mount however. You might want to check out the Linux Tape backup HOWTO. I haven't read it, however I've got it if you want it. Mike A.
