It cant. The filesystem upon which CONFIG.SYS resides *MUST* be built into the kernel. This requires either a kernel recompilation (with sources), OR an obj distribution so you can just relink, OR multiple prebuilt kernels on the distribution media. The latter approach is probably the simplest. Since the DOS kernel is small, it wouldn't be a big problem. When you install opendos, it would default to FAT installation (so that joe blow doesn't get mixed up), however an "Advanced" option would be in the installer which would let you install an ext2 kernel (or some other FS) instead. Then, later during the install, you would get a screen asking you which of your other partitions you would like visible in DOS. These would be added to %OPENDOSCFG%\FSTAB for later mounting by MOUNT in AUTOEXEC.BAT. Mike A.
