Today someone complained that the site where OPEN DOS supposedly is made available, is in fact CLOSED for anyone trying to access it with a text mode only browser! Then someone answers: Hey, you must upgrade you'r soup bowl ! OK, maybe upgrading a soup bowl in the linux environment is not as expensive as it would be when dining in the MS- or IBM worlds (where I live) , but still - listen. I access the World Wide Wait by e-mail from my home computer. Thus I get the same result as the lynx user who complained about this. Thus, OpenDos is NOT OpenlyAvailable. Next, what ever happened to plain FTP? I connected to ftp.caldera.com - looking for information about OpenDOS - and the software it self - but no, nothing there as far as I could tell. ( I downloaded the README and msg's I found there, but they all said the same: Welcome, you are now at ftp. caldera.com, and nothing more - as if I didn't now) I even downloaded their FAQ about them self, but it said nothing about OpenDos. I truly believed the new(?) OpenDos community(?) and the well established linux community would be tuned and considerate towards text-only users, but it doesn't seem to be so ! It's the same everywhere, techno freaks rules, the kind who wants to *prove* that their system can handle 3D-graphics, live movies, virtual sex or whatever just as good as any MS platform. I mean it, its the same all over the place. The other day I tried to access a OS/2 site ( a magazine) , but no - those guys are totally fixed on proving that OS/2 is a complete multimedia platform and a superb walking talking coffee machine. Sigh!! Frames and live animation, click here to se a picture of my mum, or click here to read the next sentence. Frames and live animation, less and less information. Does any one care that the majority of people accessing the Internet access it by e-mail only? To me the OpenDos is closed. Sorry , I'm so full of answers I forgot the questions I was going to ask. Bjorn (calling from Bergen, Norway) Who me? - just a *normal* brain-dead end-user with ten thumbs and a 386, curious about this OpenDos thing.
