I'm all for doing whatever will make opendos fly for those that can stand the altitude. Some of its users can't stand the altitude though, and stripping out parts which end up excluding accessibility devices and systems seems to my mind to be much more the style of Micro$oft. While it's true micro$oft is aware of the handicapped community and is addressing problems, for many years the original product came out then the retrofitting. It's easier to build these features in on the ground floor. gwbasic worked well, but qbasic for speech synthesizer users isn't a picnic. Fortunately I can get gwbasic working with dos 6.22 by means of an sysver entry of gwbasic 3.2. bascom and related utilities also work in the same way, but when I checked the table in sysver.exe I heard no mention of any of those utilities. jude
