Yes, but NDOS does this (apparently), freedos is/was going to, and TAB isn't
used on the command prompt anyway.  It would probably be optional, like the
history list.

My understanding of IFS is that you are not just stuck with one filesystem, but
you can optionally add new filesystems (such as FAT32, HPFS etc) without having
to replace the system kernel.  The new filesystems would come in the form of a
small driver (IFS module) which traps (or directs) all disk writes to the new
system.
