I saw Dan and DJ (in person) last week, along with Stuart, Ales and Steve Morss, and was encouraged to get some of the code I demoed for them upstream ;) There is a lot of cleanup to do before this happens (mostly refactoring drawing APIs), but there are other things yet to come, such as actual Z-depth between layers, via hole rendering, etc.. Assuming your graphics card supports shaders etc., (almost all cards do, including my inbuilt Intel graphics), there is code coming which will speed up the GL rendering quite a bit too. The code won't work on cards without shaders though, but there is always fallback to GDK rendering. Best regards, Peter Clifton
