Yes, we had a lot of grand aspirations a few years back.

I'll help. I'm still pretty familiar with the code base. If we're going to
the trouble of porting the HID, there are several things we ought to try to
fix. There were a number of places where the HID and the backend interacted
in ways that were less than ideal.

It seems like DJ wants to shut down the servers, so we should consider
starting this project on Github.
