Ouch :-( I'm sorry to read that. It's really unfortunate. It deserves more attention, IMHO. Have you considered a distributed/decentralized version of the web site(s), so that any volunteering person could host it or at least partially? That would allow it to survive at least partially whenever something bad happens.
