No, that doesn't work.  To compile gschem needs an *older* version of
Guile than I have installed:-

    ./configure
    ...
    ...
    checking for pkg-config... /usr/bin/pkg-config
    checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes
    checking for GUILE... no
    checking for GUILE... no
    configure: error: you need Guile 2.x (at least version 2.0.10)

I have guile 2.2 installed.
