Make sure the sha256 matches your source package. I also _only_ download the source package from the official gEDA website:     http://wiki.geda-project.org/geda:download and I do check the sha256. My BuildScripts are large compared to most because they are generic to start with, and do a lot of tests which I learned to do the hard way from experience and scars. Are you sure about that?  According to http://wiki.geda-project.org/geda:download
the recent version is 1.10.0-20191008
I've downloaded the compressed file and tried to build it. I've also tried cloning the git repository, checked out most recent as well as branch 1.10-stable and neither builds correctly for me.

My distribution is slackware, and I don't see any recent packaged versions of gschem.newer than 1.8.2. I've always built from source here, and not had any problems. This is the first time. In fact, I can still rebuilt 1.9 and 1.8 without issue.

Gene,

I am running Slackware 14.2 and I built 1.10.0 from source a couple weeks ago without any problem. Is your Slackware up to date?

Select a mirror site and click on the Slack version you are using (you don't say which Slack you are using, but it should be 14.2 for the latest packages), then "patches", then "packages". You should see a list of all the latest package updates which you can download and install. I highly recommend keeping your Slackware up to date. It is my policy to update monthly.

Also, there was an update to 1.10.0:

Most of this ate two huge bzip2 archives in docs/wiki/media/wiki/backup,
probably more than 2 years old.

This was an oversight on my part when importing the wiki files, sorry.

Since these files were never intended to be released and I'm not sure if they contain sensitive information, I decided to remove them from the git history (this replaces the two most recent commits) and replace the release tarball with a new one without these two files.

The new SHA256 checksum is:
5eb7a619f9d9cbcfa895468d6eae888d7e1d519dfff717b9f8f22fbeb37a3b1a

Sorry for the inconvenience.

This update came after the first release of 1.10.0. Make sure the sha256 matches your source package.

I also only download the source package from the official gEDA website:

    http://wiki.geda-project.org/geda:download

and I do check the sha256. It is part of my computer security policy.

There is also:

where I get non-Slackware-generated packages, if available. They still only list gEDA 1.8.2, but the BuildScript from them could be edited to change the version and build 1.10.0.

I create my own BuildScript to make the Slackware package to install.
