I've implemented a few in core, affecting all HIDs, and one in the gl rendering lib. We are very far from our targets yet, but on some test cases I already have 2.5x speedup. If you have the time, it would be nice if you could support this process by doing benchmarks. I'd also like to ask you to subscribe to the pcb-rnd mailing list: most of the readers here are probably not interested in pcb-rnd rendering optimization details, while in the pcb-rnd community users started running benchmarks to help the process.
