Friends -

gschem-1.8.2 on Debian Wheezy manages to pass unicode symbols like uF and kΩ
through to BOM files with gnet-partslist3.scm.

Same schematic, same script, gschem still calls itself gschem-1.8.2, but
running on Debian Jessie, fails:  they get converted to "?".

Before I burn too many brain cells diagnosing and fixing this, has anyone else
seen this, and know where to start?
