I'm pleased to announce "lepton-eda" -- a fork of gEDA/gaf, our λεπτόν to gEDA and FOSS EDA world. Site: https://github.com/lepton-eda Issues tracker: https://github.com/lepton-eda/lepton-eda/issues Interface for pull requests: https://github.com/lepton-eda/lepton-eda/pulls Our goals are: - stability - evolution by means of gradual innovations - support of tools being under gEDA umbrella Our current top priority is a prompt release, so that you can try out the new features that have been added lepton recently. Over the coming months, some tools may be renamed to allow lepton and geda-gaf to be installed side-by-side. The lepton tools will be _fully_ backward-compatible with the geda-gaf 1.9.2 tools, and by default will install symlinks so you don't have to change any build scripts. Netlist export and design rule checks will be accessible directly from gschem with clear reporting and easy navigation to problems in the gschem user interface. At the same time, batch and command-line netlisting capabilities will be improved with better performance and diagnostics. In the longer term, the bulk-editing features of gattrib will be integrated directly into gschem, so there's no need to switch between tools. The gschem user interface will become more configurable and responsive. gschem should use your screen space efficiently. lepton will let plugin developers easily extend gschem by dynamically adding and removing keybindings, toolbar buttons and menu items. Some contributed tools will be separated out into their own repositories for ease of maintenance. Documentation and examples will be improved to improve user experience with our tools. Join us! Vladimir
