Hi all,

in the next development cycle I hopefully finish with the layer code 
rewrite. This means we'd have both real physical layers and our current 
logical layers that act like canvases.

This, together with our new file format and modularity, could potentially 
remove a lot of the traditional limitations.

If as an user you bump into layer-related limitations and you are 
interested in getting them removed, please contact me in private.
