If I still need to solve the problem I have, I sit down and write something that solves it, in the way I like it. The same "respect what's there" applies to that too. So you are talking about how I should send my contribution to geda. If I ever get to start cschem, the same rules will apply: you should send your contribution, with full respect of the local customs, to cschem. I know you won't. And the important thing is that you understand: the reasons you won't even consider contributing to cschem or other forks/rewrites are the same as the reasons I don't consider sending my patches to gschem. Once you underetand that, you also understand why there are alternatives, and the geda community will become a better place. (Btw, there's a few years old rewrite in ruby, called PetEd.
