Speed is important for tracking down such things, perfection is not. Reliability is more the domain of DRC, which definitely needs work, and I?ve been working on it. You stated it was possible with a simple grep command line. Please share the actual command line, it is really something I'd use often with gschem. Don't worry about speed, it will run faster than manually clicking through all sheets. But remember: it has to catch all occurrences of the connection.
