I just pushed a small branch home/bkerin/debugging_markers

It lets you draw fixed-pixel-size dots (visible at all scales) that merge
with existing colors in a still-visible way, for debugging geometry and
position stuff, via hid.  So far only implementation is openGL but I think
I'll add gdk, unless there's already some better way to do this that I
missed?
