The tools will never do everything. You complain that development resources are short, and then you sell a paradigm where the developers are responsible for doing everything a user might need. Then, you worry that those nasty lusers might use an API in a way you don’t like. You want to control users, but I can’t operate in your narrow space. But geda-pcb is indeed a one-trick pony. Unfortunately, we don’t emphasize to potential users that it’s only one of the many layout (and other) tools geda-gaf can export to.
