I certainly don’t agree. KiCad is the tool of choice in a narrow world. In the wider world, gEDA is the toolkit of choice. It isn’t a competition.

In the USA, the Toyota Camry is the most popular car model, but in my neighborhood Camrys are rarely seen. There are lots of Subaru Outbacks and Jeep Cherokees, because they can go places a Camry can’t. You can’t even reach my house in bad weather in a Camry. There’s really no competition between Camry and Outback: the cars have different niches.

Similarly, gEDA’s niche is to go places that KiCad can’t. It isn’t a competition: they have different purposes. As long as we remember this, neither loses: it’s win-win.
