If it changes I'm gonna go file one for on-by-default :)

Come on somebody has done some work to add something useful
lets not start out with it invisible.  If its intrusive it probably means
in needs a way to pop in and out of existence on-demand or
something and I'd rather see a bug report requesting that.
A tooltip could give instruction how to hide it that would be enough.
