I'm with you. I don't really understand why the core developers reject such
contributions.

The problem with plugins is that they should be also maintained. So if
someone makes a change in PCB, the plugins might not be able to compile
anymore. I've seen that before.

So I think the plugin way is just one step ahead, and it would be great if
your code merged into PCB head.

I think this is one step forward. Again, it would be nice if it was in the
main branch of PCB.
