There is always someone complaining in the blogosphere that "enough young people are not getting into this industry". Saying it is the scripting language for WoW could actually be a selling point to that crowd. There really is no reason that any fixed language needs to be used, rather the flexibility to use any. Some languages are better suited to different problem domains. In the end this type of thread comes up every couple of years. Nothing ever comes of it because no one has the time or resources to actually do the work. Until there is a paid team to do the work I don't expect much to change. :-(
