I've also had this problem when running VirtualBox without 3D acceleration switched on for the virtual machine. Unfortunately, this makes PCB largely unusable due to other GL-related problems -- all menus and pop-up windows are hidden behind the main display and are inaccessibl= e. I run the virtual machine without 3D acceleration and keep a copy of PCB built with GL disabled, which I use only for DRC checks.
