It worked; I don't see any errors in the log window, either, so I guess my PCB understands the 'px'? Now, the thickness of the rat lines is where I want it and stays that way when I restart PCB. What I don't understand is why the same line (sans 'px') added to '~/.pcb/preferences' worked once, but seemed to disappear when I quit PCB.
