I think the fundamental difference is that gEDA/gaf moved/moves away from using scheme scripting to Python, while lepton continues to center around scheme. Both projects have relevant development, the basics should work fine in both, so personally I'd only consider lepton if I were a scheme fanboy (which I'm definitely not :) and choose gEDA/gaf otherwise. //Peter
