Okay, I see what you= 're referring to. This is a bug in the tutorial. It looks to me like th= e first set of figures were created with an older version of PCB and the ot= her set with a newer one and a later date. What likely happened is that the= same circuit was used, but the schematic was redrawn when the new figures = were added, and because the parts would have been arranged differently, the= reference designators ended up changing. The underlying circuit appears to= be the same, just the names of the parts have been swapped. You can even s= ee that the footprint of R101 is different.

Ultima= tely, the rat lines on your pcb should be consistent with the connections y= ou made in the schematic. So, as long as you connect your parts accordingly= , you should be fine.

In the beginning R101, R102 and R103 ar= e placed together. On page 6=C2=A0 R102, R201 and R103 are placed together = in the same place and R102 is placed where R201 was before.
I have other problems - fx with lines created in PCB - but I would= take one example to see if the confusion is my problem.

The second time you run gsch2pcb it looks at the differences. The first t= ime it may not have picked up all of the elements due to footprint name err= ors. The second time (and all subsequent times) you run it, it produces boa= rd.new.pcb, which contains the new elements, so that it doesn't = overwrite your original file. To get them into the layout, you have to do a= s it says: open the layout then go to the file menu, select "load layo= ut data to paste buffer", and select board.new.pcb. Then you can paste= them into the layout.

Alternatively, if you h= aven't done any work on the pcb yet, you can delete board.pcb and board= .new.pcb and rerun gsch2pcb.

Also, make sure that = you execute Select > Disperse All Elements, as sometimes the elements wi= ll overlap when they're brought into the layout.

First it does= not tally with the description given in the tutorial - I am using the one = that comes with Ubuntu.

Second, when I run pcb board.pcb I get only the transistor and the resist= or on the screen with a yellow line leading nowhere. Should'nt I get bo= th one.sch and two.sch? If I folllow the instructions above I add the one.s= ch to the screen all bundled up. Both one.sch and two.sch appear to be OK.<= br>

I think the issue is that the = CONNECTOR is no longer an m4 element, so, it's not generating it the wa= y the tutorial thinks it should.

Looking thro= ugh the pcb element footprints, there is, however, a footprint "CONNEC= TOR 1 2". I suspect that will serve for your purposes. Please try chan= ging "CONNECTOR 2 1" --> "CONNECTOR 1 2" and see if = that fixes it.
