gEDA is not one program, it is a set of loosely bound programs
which may work together or with other programs. Some are hosted at
git.geda-project.org and some in other places. So your question is
hard to answer without knowing what kind of program you're asking
about (schematic capture, simulator, pcb layout, whatelse).

If you mean gaf - gschem and friends - I and Peter Brett are
working on it in my unstable branch [1]. There is no consensus on
how to proceed in mainline and there is no developers wanted to
work there these days. (I, for one, don't want to discourage
anybody and am not going to force my ideas upon anybody any more.)
