Of course I did NOT... and having done so, gschem starts up and works great. :-) Thanks for the tip. Problems: Release version (1.7.1) - I get about four error dialogs whenever it is started: errors that the 'gafrc' file can't be found in various locations. - Graphical quirks in the symbol browser tree view (no expanders) and in file chooser dialog (file icons appear and disappear randomly as mouse moves over them). Fortunately these are fixed in the snapshot build, and overall the new snapshot version has a much tighter feel to the GTK UI. Snapshot version (2012-03-18) - Many icons in the gschem toolbar are replaced with 'x' icons, as if the associated icon image is not found. I see an error in the gschem log window that says “Could not find image at file: C:\geda...\share\gEDA\bitmap\gschem-comp.xpm.”. Now, I looked and these files do in fact exist in this location, and I can open and view them with GVIM (I just discovered GVIM has a really cool colored view of XPM files!). Note that I have the same problem with the pcb application in this snapshot -- the pcb tool palette buttons are tiny (about 10x10 pixels, perhaps) and blank instead of having an icon. Regards, Colin
