Using the builds from DJ's site I can run pcb successfully and it sort of works. (I haven't actually used it to do anything, but the latest build-20120318 pcb is missing tool palette icons so it's a bit hard to use at all.) I cannot get gschem to work on Windows. Some colleagues of mine are considering using either an expensive commercial EDA suite, or EAGLE, or possibly gEDA for some upcoming projects. I would really like to promote gEDA since I think it's the best solution and I already have parts libraries and experience with it. However, they are Windows users. I hoped that gEDA would work on Windows, but so far it is a complete failure. Because of that, I am thinking of setting up a VirtualBox machine image with a Linux distro and gEDA installed. Then my my colleagues can use a full gEDA environment but still be able to access their Windows environment (MS Outlook, etc.). Has anyone run gEDA in a VM before? I was looking for a Linux distro that won't take gigabytes of hard drive space, but also would have a user interface that is easy to use for someone who's only used Windows before. DSL, Tiny Core, Slitaz, etc. are small but are not user friendly for Windows people ... getting at a VirtualBox shared Samba drive should be easy, for instance. Even though Ubuntu is much bigger than I'd like, at several gigs, I think I might stick with it because I think it's the easiest distro to plug and play for new users. (At least it was before Unity and GNOME shell.) Regards, Colin
