I guess it would be more clever to get yourself a newsreader that simply lets you keep signatures from getting displayed - it's not part of the message, so you won't get cheated out of any relevant information. And since CBFalconer's signature starts with the cor- rect "-- \n" sequence every halfway decent newsreader should be able to hide it from you.
