I mention this here since it was due to how impressed I was with the DJGPP 2.03/Allegro 3.12 built of Depui 2.0 that made me curious just how well the purely 16-bit version would compare. Unfortunately, the original Borland 3.1 PRJ file is useless to me. I had to manually create a MAKEFILE from scratch! (but hey! thats why we love these sorts of things!) My Borland 5.02 port uses the Large_Mem_Model, absolutely requires the Borland BGI package, and also requires that you modify the EXAMPLE files to reflect the use of the BGI support. Interesting note here: Compressing a DJGPP EXE file (using djp) results in only a 1/2 compression, NOW using my BC16 library and WWP to compress the examples, I am getting 60% compression on the EXE's. Average DJGPP DEPUI 2.0 EXE is 320k Average BC16 DEPUI 2.0 EXE is 160k (immediately half the size, BUT remember Allegro is not BGI and vice-versa, to be sure, there are trade-offs here) Compressing DGJPP yields ONLY 1/2 compression Compressing BC16 Apps yields 1/3 (or more) compression.
