Message-Id: <200108281709.NAA03858@delorie.com> From: "Juan Manuel Guerrero" Organization: Darmstadt University of Technology To: djgpp-announce AT delorie DOT com Date: Tue, 28 Aug 2001 18:12:48 +0200 Subject: ANNOUNCE: update of DJGPP port of GNU gdbm 1.8.0 uploaded Reply-To: djgpp AT delorie DOT com This is a bug fix release of the DJGPP port of GNU gdbm 1.8.0. The library will open and create now all database files in binary mode and handle paths in the correct way allowing mixed slash and backslash directory separators and checking for a colon as drive letter separator in the path. For a full list of the changes made, please inspect the diffs file located in the djgpp subdir. It contains a djgpp specific changelog. The opening of the database files in text mode instead of binary mode in the previous port has been a very serious bug making the old port completely useless. This implies that it is *seriously* suggested to every user who wants to seriously use gdbm in his applications to update to this package. This package also includes the binaries: conv2gdbm.exe, testdbm.exe, testndbm.exe and testgdbm.exe that will allow the user to test database files of different formats (dbm, ndbm and gdbm) and convert them to gdbm. The binaries, docs and source packages can be downloaded from Simtel.NET and mirrors as: Gdbm 1.8.0 binary, info and man format documentation: http://www.simtel.net/gnudlpage.php?product=/gnu/djgpp/v2gnu/gtxt039b.zip&name=gdbm180b.zip Gdbm 1.8.0 dvi, html and ps format documentation: http://www.simtel.net/gnudlpage.php?product=/gnu/djgpp/v2gnu/gdbm180d.zip&name=gdbm180d.zip Gdbm 1.8.0 source: http://www.simtel.net/gnudlpage.php?product=/gnu/djgpp/v2gnu/gdbm180s.zip&name=gdbm180s.zip Send suggestions and bug reports concerning the DJGPP port to comp.os.msdos.djgpp or and cc them to me. Bug reports concerning gdbm must be send . Enjoy Guerrero, Juan Manuel
