If you have problems with Win2000 with environment variables, please keep in mind that Win2000 doesn't auto-uppercases env var names. I had problems with mingw in this respect, that disappeared after. I don't know how djgpp check for env vars, but it could be handy to check that all your env vars are uppercased.
