That's not correct. isspace() and its friends work for unsigned chars
in the range 0x00 to 0xff, and for EOF, as their input arguments.  The
real bug in this case would be that 'a' is a plain char variable,
rather than an unsigned one.  In that case, the call would have to be

	isspace((unsigned char) a)

That'd be a bug in the C++ library that came with your installed gpp*b.zip
package.
