That's not entirely true. libsocket works with Winsock 1.x and Winsock 2, it's just that there are several major bugs in the virtual device driver (VxD) used with Winsock 2. These limit libsocket's usefulness using stream sockets (TCP/IP). It is probably OK for using datagram sockets (UDP/IP). UDP/IP may be OK - it depends what you want kind of communication you want.
