An idea: don't use W2K. Seriously: Windows 2000 looks like a winner of The-Most-DJGPP-Incompatible-System contest. Even if you solve the minor annoyances you mention above, you will quickly discover that W2K's NTVDM crashes the moment you try to compile your program.
