You were right, the problem was, that there is another make in my system that is located in c:\win2000. I have absolutely no idea where it came from. It has no option to output the version number and it won't tell me to who it belongs. The only problem I still have is that when I call GNU applications recursive, deeper than 2 levels, they will crash. Someone already told me though, that this is a bug and that it is unavoidable. I will have to write a batch that executes make in the corresponding directories, so that I won't have to call make from make. Sorry for bugging you with this problem.
