That shouldn't crash redir. However, if _your_ program does something very bad, then Windows will close the entire DOS box with the message similar to what you posted. It is possible that running your program under redir makes the effect of messing with memory so badly that Windows shuts down the DOS box, whereas running outside redir doesn't do that. In that case, it's not redir's fault.
