Throw together? I don't even remember how to use printf! It would take me an hour just to figure out all that #include and *struct and #define stuff that you need to float a C program. I compiled the unmodified source under Win98 and I get different behaviour. It will label the diskette without truncating, but only if the diskette is not already labelled (that gets "error setting volume label".) The same executable under OS/2 truncates the label, but doesn't mind if the diskette is already labelled. Augh! > Don't give up. It always gets worse before it gets better ;-) Thanks for the encouragement, and what you say is true. It's just that I don't really have the time for this increasingly Quixotic pursuit of the perfect SFX solution for our customers. They'll just have to label the damn diskette themselves! I'll chip away at it in my spare time. %-) Thanks again. -- James Owens ad354 AT Freenet DOT carleton DOT ca Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
