The fact whether the port command will cause a write caching enabled disk cache to flush its cache before the reboot is not mentioned (ie the safety factors of the various methods). Although it should happen, as AFAIK most disk caches hook the keyboard interrupt to intercept CTRL-ALT-DEL and flush its buffers before the reboot.
