Eli

All is now well.
Having installed bash(bsh203b.zip) and=20 shell-utils(shl112b.zip) the commands

    set=20 SHELL=3Dc:/djgpp/bin/sh.exe
    make -f = generate/makefile=20 afmdir=3D/grafm

caused execution to proceed = correctly and the=20 postscript files in /devps
expanded.Typical examples = are

Name    =    =20     length before       =20     length aterwards
AR        =             = 574   =20             =    =20         1145
BMR          &= nbsp;      433   =20             =    =20         1113
CR        =            =20 340           &nbs= p;            = ;    =20 339
HR        =            =20 629           &nbs= p;            = ;    =20 629
NR        =             = 522   =20             =    =20         2037
PR        =             = 466   =20             =    =20         1215
TR        =             =20 536           &nbs= p;            = ;     536

and the directory expands from 378,090 = to=20 621,264

The font can now be changed in the = groff=20 instruction e.g.

        = groff -e -ms=20 -Tps -fP file.dat > file.ps

produces an output in the Palatino=20 font.

With many thanks for all your = help

John.
