I think you should consider updating your DJGPP installation. You're using rather old versions of the packages you list, and the behaviour you describe for that program compiled with '-pg' suggests your DJDEV package is also quite old. Profiling works a whole lot better with the current versions of djdev and gcc/binutils. It may also help to run the program outside RHIDE.
