You said that all DJGPP programs ``freeze'' in this way, right? For example, does the compiler freeze as well? If so, it must be something specific to your system configuration: I use DJGPP programs both on Windows 95 and Windows 98, and DJGPP programs work for me in background as well as in foreground. I suggest to look into non-standard software installed on your system, or some non-default Windows configuration option you turned on. If only some of the programs freeze, please describe which programs are those, and how exactly do they ``freeze''.
