Alternatively, the --speech-friendly approach exists which I like more since with that approach everybody stays happy. Sighted users can have their fast screen writes and blind users can have their bios screen writes. All of this has me wondering what curses.h has for screen writing. If that package can do both direct and bios screen writes could some list member familiar with curses.h give information on the analogous functions? This way if I ever get into source code that uses curses.h and find a fast screen writing function I'll be able to translate it to a slower more useable function. Also, there are probably other blind programmers on program-l who would like to have that knowledge too. -------------------- jude
