GCC is a command line compiler, i. e. you need to pass it parameters on the
command line that allow it to know what file you want to compile, what it
must be named, and a lot of other stuff.

In general the best advice is to get to http://www.delorie.com/djgpp/ and
read the readmes and info that is there on how to use the compiler - the
info there is much more complete van specific than anything I could write
here.
