If you like the DOS-Console-feeling then run the DOS-box full-screen. You can have as many of it as you like. BTW Switching with Alt-ESC works faster as with Alt-Tab, at least if you have closed all normal Windows. (If you have problems with Allegro or other graphics stuff in Windows then you better look for some DOS-Manual to set up the DOS-Mode). Enjoy!
